Recently Tammy Zonker, Founder of Fundraising Transformed, and ICG Dean, talked with Shannon Duval in a podcast about Working Remotely, Knowing Your Numbers, and the Future of Philanthropy.

Shannon serves as the Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Philanthropy Officer at CommonSpirit Health. Shannon Duval also serves on the Faculty for the Institute for Charitable Giving. CommonSpirit Health is the nation’s largest nonprofit health system– delivering clinical excellence across a system of 140 hospitals and more than 1,000 care sites in 21 states, here in the U.S.

Shannon’s career has spanned fundraising roles within academic medicine, a national health charity, and community-based care before becoming a leader at CommonSpirit Health. She is responsible for leading major gifts, grants and planned giving, and campaigns for the largest health care system in the United States.

The challenges Tammy Zonker and Shannon Duval discuss in this podcast, are the same challenges and concerns faced by major gift fundraisers in every nonprofit organization today. We will address these challenges with a panel of faculty in our seminars in Costa Mesa and Chicago. Learn More

We discussed the changes she has seen relative to her leadership and management approach with a large healthcare system from the peak of the pandemic and now semi-post-pandemic.

Shannon shared how they influence team culture across a national system to keep team members engaged and collaborative. The systems and measurements used to help team members remain clear on their goals and accountable for achieving those goals without feeling punitive.
