Always Set a Date to Come Back

After you’ve asked for a gift, it is not unusual for a person to say, “I need time to think it over.” I usually like to respond by saying, “Of course you need time to think it over.

How much time do you feel you need? A few days? Can I come back in a week, and we can talk about this again?”

If you don’t set a time for coming back, there’s no sense of urgency. Keep the time span brief. If you give a person a month to respond, they will take a month.
