Shannon Duval

Shannon Duval is Senior Vice President of Philanthropy, Deputy Chief Philanthropy Officer for CommonSpirit Health— the nation’s largest nonprofit health system. She is responsible for supporting philanthropic investments for CommonSpirit Health’s national initiatives and leads all efforts to support the growth of philanthropy, in over 700 care centers.

Prior to CommonSpirit Health, Shannon served as president of the CHI Mercy Foundation in Des Moines, IA for six years. She served as President of the St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation (Unity Point Health System.)

Shannon served as a regional major gifts officer for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, TN.) She spent six years as Director of Development for the University of Iowa Foundation, raising funds for the UI Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Shannon currently serves on the board of regents for her alma mater, Luther College (Decorah, IA,). She is on the board of the Catholic Health Initiatives Colorado Foundation and the CHI Center for Research and Innovation.

Shannon serves as the chair of the Association for Health Care Philanthropy Madison Institute. Shannon has completed PhD coursework in higher education administration from the University of Iowa, and also holds a master of juris prudence in health law from Drake University Law School.
